This graceful, early spring ephemeral wildflower produces clusters of yellow-tipped flowers, borne in a row, that are drooping from leafless stems arching above the foliage. The flowers are shaped like a pair of pants hanging upside down (hence the common name). Being ephemeral, shortly after blooming, the foliage begins to die and by June, it is completely dormant. Prefers rich, moist, loamy soils in part shade to full shade.
